Spiritual and Divine Nature of Numbers

Every numbers has a certain power which is not expressed by the figure or symbol employed to denote quantity only. This power rests in an occult connection existing between the relations of things and the principles in nature of which they are the expressions.

Health & Fitness
0 stands for infinity, the Infinite boundless Being, the fons et origo of all things, the Brahmanda or egg of the Universe, the solar system in its entirely; hence universality, cosmopolitanism, circumambulation, voyaging. Thus it is the universal paradox, the infinitely great and the infinitely small, the circle of infinity and the point at the centre, the atom. The following Minor Key to the interpretation of numbers may prove useful, being in many respects more concise and earlier of application than the foregoing: In this system -
1. Denotes individuality and possible egotism, self-reliance, affirmation, distinction.
2. Relationship, psychic attraction, emotion, sympathy or antipathy, doubt, vacillation.
3. Expansion, increase, intellectual capacity, riches and success.
4. Realization, property, possession, credit and position, materiality.
5. Reason, logic, ethics, travelling, commerce, utility.
6. Co-operation, marriage, reciprocity, sympathy, play, art, music, dancing.
7. Equilibrium, contracts, agreements, treaties, bargains, harmony or discord.
8. Reconstruction, death, negation, decay, loss, extinction, going out.
9. Penetration, strife, energy, enterprise, dividing anger, keenness.
In this scheme the answering planets are respectively:
1. The Sun; 2. The Moon (New); 3.Jupiter; 4. The Earth or Sun; 5. Mercury; 6. Venus; 7. The Moon (Full); 8. Saturn; 9. Mars.
The idea of the Universe as Divine Ideation in expression of Form leads directly to the subject of human thought in relation to number and of number as expressing thought. Our thought, which is three-dimensional, is capable of generating from the evolutions of a point these figures - the sphere, the cone and the cube; and their superficial equivalents - the circle, the triangle, and the square; with their perverts - the oblong and the ellipse, These figures have always been used in symbolical thought to represent states of consciousness. But we are only concerned with them as related to the numbers 1, 3, 4 that denote God, Humanity, and Nature - Osiris, Horus, Isis. For we answer to the universals paradigm of the one Being, compounded on spirit, soul, and body. And according to Oriental teachings, in the Guptavidya, our humanity has not attained to a higher vibration than 5. We find man of this world blessed with five senses and five digits on foot and hand. It is a limitation imposed by correspondence, and the rest of this cycle of evolution will proceed along with fivefold line of development. Five is the number of Mercury, and its supreme function is the getting of knowledge. The quest of knowledge is therefore the keynote of our cycle. In Cosmic Symbolism, we have shown that it is the only number that is universally related and has no polarity, being itself the symbol of the co-ordinating centre of our material consciousness, impressions to the sensorium. The sum-total of our sense-impressions is experience. We are limited therefore to a fivefold apperception of things, and the development of a sixth sense lies in the experience thence derived. Our sense of harmony is bonded by a definitely set of vibrations. One man thinks in terms of the public, and according to his degree of development, he may be a caterer, entertainer, politician, writer or teacher. Another thinks in terms of conquest, and may thus be an explorer, soldier, pioneer or reformer.
One comes under the lunar influence or the yellow ray, the other under the Martian influence or red ray. One answers to the number 2 and to vibration of that number, the other to the number 9 and its vibrations.
All consistent thought, therefore, lends itself to numerical expression because as a formulation of some truth it responds to the same test – harmony. We cannot add anything to the sum-total of matter in the universe nor to the sum-total of either. But we can convert both. Hence, in the building up of thought, we are continually converting and rearranging materials and energy we have already used.
The circle with its centre represents to us the sun; and by correspondence of the natural with the spiritual, it also conveys the idea of the Deity. A number is a seal or impress of natural law as surely as is the shape of a flower, the sound of an atmospheric vibration, the colour of an etheric wave.
There is a system of interpretation in numerology, which is supported by experience, but has its origin beyond the realm of the phenomenal world. If no such system existed, it would be impossible to prove the geometrical relations of thought. But this is done daily by those who make use of numbers for purposes of divination.
Divination may be regarded as both a science and an art. It assumes the properties of a science when thee is a conscious process of discrimination, calculation and interpretation involved.
