ASTROLOGY AND WESTERN ASTROLOGY |
| “Astrology
is a scientific study and application of the language of the
heavenly bodies.” “Vedic
astrology is an analysis and forecasting system,
based on astronomical data, that allows its practitioners
to carefully assess and understand behavior, to measure the
effects of the past, the influence of the present and the
tendency of events to unfold in the future.”

These heavenly bodies,
determined on the basis of astronomy and mathematics, are mapped
in the form of a horoscope. Their specific locations in the horoscope
indicate specific happenings in the case of individuals, of multitudes
and of geographical regions. Whether the Sun, the Moon, the planets
and the stars themselves influence the terrestrial phenomena, or
they only indicate such phenomena by their various dispositions,
is immaterial. What is important to us is that variations in their
disposition determine variations in the events on the earth. |

There are many systems
of astrology; among them the ‘Vedic Astrology’
(Called Jyotish) holds a different place for its nature
and structure. It is very much different from other Astrology systems.
It is the pure spiritual astrology, which involves the concept of
Karma (actions performed), rebirth and other basic facts about the
creation and explains how planets control our lives and affect us
all. |
|
A very important
topic, remedial measure is also avoided in Western Astrology. What
is the point of knowing a future mishap unless the remedy is told?
All the students of Vedic Astrology know and repeatedly see that
the predictions of Vedic Astrology cannot be avoided by simple efforts,
as they are REAL. |

Vedic Astrology
covers divisional charts, special ascendants, arudhas, argalas,
yogas, ashtakavarga, avasthas, a few Nakshatra dashas, a few rashi
dasas, several techniques of transit analysis. Unfortunately, some
people think today that Parashara and Jaimini taught two totally
different approaches to Vedic Astrology. When we talk about arudha
padas, argalas, chara karakas, chara dasa and other rasi dashas,
people think of them as “Jaimini astrology.” |
|
Vedic Astrology
is considered a sacred subject and Maharshi Parasara warned us against
sharing this knowledge with unworthy people. Ancient sages laid
down some rules for the ethical behaviour of a Vedic astrologer.
One should follow the rule of Vedic Astrology. |
