| DINACHARYA |
|
One day
is a small fraction of our life. To achieve a healthy life one has to
live everyday in a particular discipline. A good routine improve health,
which enhances our ability to perform our duties, accumulate our possessions,
and fulfil our desires. |
|
| ARISING |
It is advised
that one should rise before sunrise i.e. ‘Brahma Muhurta’.
This time is 2-3 hour before sunrise. If it is not possible than rise
at least one hour before sunrise. Early morning is the best time to request
nature to maintain and amplify your own harmony with the surrounding. |
|
| ELIMINATION
OF WASTES |
Proper
evacuation of bladder and bowels keeps the body light and active throughout
the day. Wastes must be eliminated before new fuel is added. Never skip
evacuation of bowels or bladder, though you may be in hurry. These are
the natural urges, which should not be suppressed. |

| WASHING |
| Washing the
face, hands, feet, eyes, and nose purifies the body’s sense organs.
Accumulations of Kapha- the Kleda, sebaceous secretions- the majja mala
and sweat (sweda) should be removed with cold water. |

| Teeth - |
Brush your
teeth, lightly with soft herbal twigs of Nimba, Khadira, Arka, Nyagrodha
or Madhuka. One should select the twig for the purpose to set right
the dosha in his body. Herbal powders in a form of mixture can also
be equally effective. |
| Tongue - |
Coating of tongue is a
sign of ama and indigestion, daily scrape your tongue, from the
root to the tip, with the help of tongue-scraper. |
| Mouth - |
Ayurveda recommends a
practice called ‘gandusha’ for maintaing the health
of the whole mouth and jaw. ‘Gandusha’ literally means
a ‘mouthful of liquid. Gandusha with sesame oil (Tila taila)
is recommended. Hold the mouthful of sesame oil for some time. This
operation strengthens the teeth jaw. Face and improves the taste
sensation and voice. |
| Face - |
The person should thereafter
wash his face and eyes with cold water or with a decoction of Amalaki
fruit. |
| Nose - |
Blow
the nose, clear off the secreations and mop it properly. Add 2-3
drops of medicated oil-called as “Anu Taila”,
into each nostril. This nasal administration is called as ‘nasya’. |

| EXERCISE |
1) The body grows well. |
 |
| 2) It imparts brightness to the skin. |
| 3) Muscular development is promoted. |
| 4) The digestive power increases. |
| 5) Lethargy and idleness disappears.
|
| 6) Increases endurance. |
| 7) Body gets lightness. |
| 8) Increases flexibility of the
body. |
| 9) General resistance to cold,
heat, exhaustion etc increases. |
| 10) Health is maintained satisfactorily. |
| 11) Reduces overweight and maintains
normal body weight. |
| 12) Adds to the longetivity. |
|
Ayurveda recommends “artha-shakti
vyayam” meaning exercising up to half of one’s stamina. When
seat accumulates on the forehead and mouth breathing starts, one should
stop taking exercise. Ayurveda forbids exercise to those who are sick,
too young or too old. |

| BATHING |
Before bathing, one should
rub his body after exercise with dry powders, which is called as ‘udvartana’.
Usually, triphala powder is used. In obesity, the massage with dry powders
of vacha (sweet flag) or musta, is recommended to alleviate excessive
subcutaneous fats.
The person should have a bath thereafter. A morning bath is an essential
part of a daily health routine. Ayurveda recommends hot water for bathing
and mentions that heat is not good for head, hair and eyes. In summer,
a cool bath is refreshing and invigorating. |

| MEDITATION |
After bathing and getting
dressed, it is the time for quiet contemplation. The form of such contemplation
may be meditation, or prayer or worship of god or chanting, or just thinking
of something beautiful – is a personal choice. The process increases
your concentration, strengthens the psyche, reduces hypersensitivity and
stimulates the resolve to take charge of your life. |

| SLEEP |
Natural sleep is the best
rest to the body and mind. Average 6-8 hours of sleep is required. Meditating
before sleep and on rising helps the body to become peaceful and relaxed. |
